    Power consumption question

    I was wondering.

Okay, say the machine I'm looking says it's rated for 3,000watt power consumption. What does that equal to? How do you find out what the power company charges per kilowatt?? or how do you work this out.

Say a job takes 1 hour to cut. what electrical costs are incured?

    Thanks!

3000 watts is 3 kilowatts. Run the machine for an hour and you have used 3 kilowatt hours(KWH) of electricity. Prices for electricity vary quite a bit, regionally, and have been changing rapidly..... call your power company. It is probably going to be somewhere between 8 and 15¢ per KWH. At the high end, your machine will cost you half a buck per hour.

Trivia......a hundred watt light bulb will cost about a penny per hour!! Actually somewhat more in the summer time because you will have to pay a little extra for the air conditioning to remove the heat of the bulb; but a little less in the winter when the bulb will help heat your house. Same for your laser.
