how about using different woods and making a segmented plate. I would think that wouldn't be to hard to do just cut some wedges and glue em up.

A glue block and 3/4" or 1" boards works great.

And, hey! If it's for cookies and you're in Texas, it's gonna have to be bigger than a dinner plate. Waaaay bigger.

Hey Guys I'm no segmented turner!
I was talking about taking a glue block and attaching it to a 3/4 or 1" thick board to make a platter from solid stock.
Now I can do that if you guys want? I can drop by woodcraft and pick up a nice piece of wood and take a few pics as I turn it.
Now if you want multiple woods you might have to wait a while for that my jointer needs new blades.
let me know and I might be able to get to it this weekend!

Hey I got a good idea!Originally Posted by Andy Hoyt
Since my jointer is down Maybe Andy could glue me something up and send it to me? That would make a great tutorial piece Andy send it my way and we will have a combo tutorial effort!

I got a better idea.
It's a challenge.
Let's see who can git-r-done first, Ketron.
And I won't use my jointer, just so we're even

I have an even better idea Andy!
You go ahead and do the tutorial on any style you want for these guys.
When I get the time to get some dry wood ( I use green wood always) and be able to do the glue up and turn it we will set a date and have a showdown?
