    Orbital sander swirl...

    Greetings!

I have just finished a Shaker Hall Table made from curly maple. I finished it with analine dye and then several coats of Minwax wipe-on poly. I just noticed a small area on the top that you can see those little curly marks left by the orbital sander.....I had gone over the top with a cabinet scraper, but I mist have skipped over this dime sized spot...of course now that I know its there, it looks like the size of a dinner plate.....I just cant let it go.....am I destined to strip the table down and start over?

    Thanks in advance,

    Frank

Maybe the tree at one time had a mild case of curly grain syndrome!

This is entirely your call. But if you can't let it go your only solution, since you used poly, is to strip, sand off the swirls, and refinish. With shellac you might have had a chance to blend in new and old finish, but not very possible with poly.
