"Tropical storm-force winds extended outward for almost 350 miles, creating high winds and heavy surf all the way to Canada.
The surf claimed Isabel’s first victim Thursday when a man who was watching the storm on Black Point in Naragansett, R.I., was swept away and drowned, NBC affiliate WJAR-TV of Providence reported. Authorities recovered his body but would not identify him until his family could be found."
