Drill Press Table

A recent project with ideas I found here on SMC, this is my shop class I never took in high school.

Bottom layer of 3/4" Finply with 1/2" MDF top. Inside the drawer are some blank 4x4 inserts.

I cut the dados and rabbets with my EZ Smart SRK for Festool rails, they get along better than me and my wife!

I like how you used the 1010 aluminum extrusion for your fence rails.

Larry, the Drill Press is a Harbor Freight benchtop I got for free from a retiree. It's better than my previous one - handheld drill attachment.

Jim, The extrusions are from www.8020.net , I design stuff at work with it.
The side rails are 1010 (1" x 1") and the fence itself is 1534 (.75" x 1.5")
It's a good alternative to t-track.

Really well done! I figure you'll retire before that table needs to be upgraded! It looks like it will take just about any additional fixture I can think of.

Nice job on that. I'm going to put this one in memory when it comes time to do mine. Got to visit that extrusion site. Will remember also that we have an experience source when it comes to designing with that stuff.

Nice drill press table.

I designed numerous aluminum extrusions in hollow and solid shapes, but none with the universality of the 8020 system.

Would you be willing, given the constraints of your employment, to share with us your ideas regarding uses of this system?

I bet that with your experiences and ideas you could write a fine article for our archives.
