    Another turning experiment PIC

Of course at this stage everything I do is an experiment

This a small pear - natural edged bowl I turned last night. This one had a few firsts for me - first time I turned pear - first natural edged bowl well I tried once before but that one don't count - And the first time I turned the lathe off & saw a bunch of ticked off ants marching out of my turning

This was a chunk I sawed off a pear tree in my yard over the weekend. wierd thing is I even coated these with wax & they started splitting like crazy.

The white spots you see are wax that I can't get out of the nooks & crannies. This bowl definately needed more sanding but with the natural edge spinning like a propeller at 850 RPM's I got tired of getting my fingers whacked so I gave up. I'll hand sand it off the lathe this weekend.

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Tom,

I like it! And I had to laugh at the ticked off ants! The natural edges do get exciting sometimes, don't they?

    Scott.
