    Belt Splicing

    Anyone out there making there own 6" sanding belts. Just wandering what method of splice you are using. Butt or lap, what type of glue, etc. I have an excess of 6"x 28' stroke sander belts, and my latest addition, a Wysong and Miles 234 vertical sander will require a 6" x 16' belt. Would like to make my own and save some $ if possible. Thanks.

    Belt splicing

    Many moons ago, FWW did an article on making your own belts. They cut belt diagonnaly, and using bench grinder, ground off abrasive in area of splice. Then glued with ordinary yellow glue and clamped splice together.

    2 word Duct tape. Use it on the back side. It works, trust me...
