    SU Cone Help

    I am trying to make a cone but one that doesn't come to a point. I tried drawing the top and bottom circles then a line and do follow me but that didn't work, any suggestions? This is for SU, sorry Tod

    hunh? what are you asking aaron? are you trying to build a cone out of wood or draw one freehand or on the computer? kinda hard to help when the question`s posed as it sits .02 tod

    Aaron, there are a couple of ways to do this.

    1. Draw a circle the size of the bottom of the cone. Pull it into a cylinder the height of the cone. Select the circular face that is now too large and then the Scale tool. Scale the circle while holding the CTRL key until you get it to the size you want.

    The other one would be easier to show in pictures so I'll do that. Be right back.

    Here we go.

    1. Circle for base.
    2. Triangular profile. The top is set at the desired radius for the top of the truncated cone.
    3. Select the circle edge, the Follow Me tool and click on the triangle.
    4 Trace a line segment along the top edge to close the face.

    Technically there should be a step between three and four to delete the cylindrical face on the inside. It is needless geometry.

    Another way is to PPull your cylindar up, then R click on the top circle, select Entity Info, and in there change the Radius to what you want, in this case I choose 1/16".
