All I can say has been said before, but I will repeat it one more time - beautiful design, workmanship, and finish!!! I am about to embark on a bed building project so this has inspired me to say the least.

Excellent design and material selection. The three pieces just flow together. Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

    Bravo!

The curly Yellow Birch figure is perfect for a project of this size and scale. It is not overpowering or too intense, but draws attention to the whole design. It is one of my favorite figured woods for larger projects like what you have so beautifully designed and built . Outstanding work and use of materials.

    Thanks Jason,
The bench was a nessesity because my wife did not want side boards.
The headboard attaches to the metal mattress frame and the footboard is freestanding. Likely would not have been my preference either.

I see details for the panel lamination and reference to a core.
What did you use for the core? Is it two or three layers?

    Thanks for sharing.
The core I used was 1/4 inch luan. It worked well and the panels stayed flat afterwards.

I sprayed 2 coats of Sealcoat, then 2 and 3 coats of Minwax wipeon poly and of course sanding between coats.
