Red face It's not my fault!!

Sitting around waiting for a glue-up to dry (kinda like watching grass grow), I happened to see a short piece 16/4 soft maple I had left from the crade I just finished, to short to do anything flat with, cost too much to use for firewood so........

This is the first turning I've done in probably 5yrs and the first bowl ever. The sides aren't real thin, probably 1/4-3/8 but since I don't do this I didn't have any turning calipers plus my tools weren't the sharpest in the world and I was too lazy to sharpen.

David for not having sharp tools the bowl looks mighty fine indeed. Great work. I am looking for some maple wood now. I like the looks of the curly maple. Good job.

For rusty skills, dull old tools, no measuring devices and a piece of normally scrap offall-------------------you did gooooood.

Was that maple hard to turn without sharp tools?

You sound like me David. My lathe pretty much sat idle for 5 years before I found this Forum a year ago. Haven't done much flat work since. Welcome back to the Spin Zone.

    Nice Bowl!!!
