How Often Do You Replace Your Wallet

My wallet is, to the best of my memory, over 16 years old. Though since retirement it isn't in my pocket every day.

How about other folks, how long do you keep yours?

Mine usually last 10 years plus. I only take mine if I'm driving somewhere or on the rare occasion that I'm with a friend driving somewhere. About 40 or so years ago when I first starting having lower back issues and started seeing a chiropractor he advised me to carry my wallet in my front pocket. Advice that I still follow today as it has helped my back issues and probably extended the life of the wallets I've had.

I carry my wallet in my purse (replaced every 15 years or so) but I do "piriformis stretches" as it helps my lower back; spine has some screws and rods in it L5-S1.

I dont know, are we including the times I forgot about it and ended up in the laundry? Do find it harder to get my cards out lately and likely have snipped a bit to help and need to do more.

Is it possible driving with a bit thick wallet on one butt cheek over the years can give a bit of a curve in a spine? Odd time im smart enough to take it out before I sit down for sure more comfortable.

I got the same advice from a Chiropractor and have been carrying my wallet in a front pocket for over a decade. When I travel, I transfer just the cards I need to a second wallet and leave the rest at home. Last trip I used a cell phone case with slots for just my driver's license, a couple credit cards and travel insurance card and some cash.

changed over to a new wallet this week. Old one was tearing/falling apart. Don't remember when I changed wallets the last time. Good chance 15-20 years ago. another front pocket wallet person.

Does 'Roy Rogers wallet' ring a bell with you? Well it's not quite that old, but mine is from the 60's, hand tooled leather that is really shiny except for where it leaks credit cards. Somewhere in the 80's the wife bought me a new one from Hong Kong, and I used it about 8 years till it fell apart and I reverted to the original for another 32 years.

It now sits on the table waiting for the few times I need to carry cash, since I got the Tesla a year ago and just carry my phone now with the DL and a couple credit cards.

I don't replace my wallet very often, both because I don't wear it out all that much and because the configuration I prefer is hard to come by. I use a "Card" oriented wallet, not a typical bi- or tri-fold. I only carry a tiny bit of cash so I have zero need for a typical wallet design. So my wallet is smaller and unobtrusive in my front pocket. I has a few credit cards, some medical cards, vehicle registration and insurance and my license and passport card. Oh, and a few coupons. And since I use my Apple Watch to pay most of the time, the wallet doesn't come out of my pocket much, either.

I think mine is probably 15 years old or so. I'm particular and like a bi-fold, so try to buy decent ones and not subject myself to searching for a new one often.

I lost my "bill fold" in 1972 while stationed @ Ft. Carson CO. What a major PITA to replace it's contents!!!!!
My brother bought me a new replacement wallet for Xmas that year.

Mine is probably 20+ years old - I don't know. It will be replaced when/if it falls apart or I lose it. Interesting about wallets and back issues. I had wondered but hadn't heard that. Also interesting that the article speculates about the effect of such variables as types of credit cards and is dated April, 2024. It's not clear if it was April 1.

Probably 35+ yrs ago I was told by the Doc to get the fat meatball out of my pocket. I now carry a fold of cash in one front pocket and a small sleeve with a couple credit cards, license and insurance cards in the other. I think I got a new sleeve 7-8 yrs ago, but they last a long time.

When I was young I carried a George Costanza style Tri-Fold. I wore holes through my back pocket. I use a small leather card case with additional room for ID and a few bills. It's a small front pocket size (3" x 4"). They usually last 10-15 years.

thanks on the front pocket and have done it the odd time when I sit down in the car,. Guess I should put my wallet on the other side for a few years and bend my back the other way. Hardest part of the wallet thing is me getting the cards out. I file my finger nails super short as it feels best to me then cant pick up anything. Twice over the years with the two guiys try and rob you thing it didnt happen but the wallet would be gone and as above imagine trying to get all back. good message above maybe best not to carry all and only what is needed. My trade card is in there never had to bring it out for one other stuff as well maybe not needing in there only when needed ill take some out today good point.

Even though I live in mesh running shorts in Summer, working outside I sweat so much that leather wallets might make it through one season. Traveling light, I use business card holders for a wallet. Time for a new one last Fall, I happened to see an Alligator one and thought it might fare better getting wet than cowhide leather. Picture taken just now and it made it through this past hot season just fine. I don't keep change and bills travel folded loose in the same pocket. Lowes, Home Depot, and debit card on this side. Drivers license and medical card on the other side.
