    Scorpius

Hello once again everyone here is my latest piece "SCORPIUS" This is a bit of a different style of piece for me. This piece finished at 13" x 10" x 8" it was mostly turned on the lathe then steamed bent, carved cut apart reassembled and colored. Made from Curupau and Canarywood. The final finish is satin lacquer.

This totally falls into the "super cool" category. Really nice, Bruce.

Bruce, would you mind explaining how you join your segments? What type of glue and how do you clamp (if you do)? Any reinforcement? Do you use an armature like Jerry Bennett?

The two joints in each leg are cut to the angle sanded flat with 80 grit one side is sprayed with accelerator the other has med. Parfix CA glue and then pressed together hold until set then sand to blended. each leg has a steel pin 1/2" long by 1/16" and 5 min. epoxy glue is used with sawdust mixed in hold until set. Everything is dry fit first to check the position is correct.
