Tripod table legs - help!

I made this mockup b/c I'd never made this joint before. All pieces are exact same length. All are square. The joint is in the exact middle of each piece. However, when a top is put on it, it isn't level. What am I doing wrong?

You assembled it incorrectly, you have two leg that don't intersect each other which is throwing you off.

as i understood, there are two ways to make the joint. one is as i pictured it and another in which all three legs connect in the center, which is a different font requiring more cutting. The photo you sent is too small for me to see, which version is it? And, if it's the same, how am i screwing up the assembly?
