In Praise of the No. 80 Cabinet Scraper

I'm fairly new to woodworking but wow is this an amazing tool. I got my Veritas cabinet scraper (the #80 clone) this week and used it to flatten the bottoms of my benchtop's 5"x5" legs. It absolutely obliterated the endgrain in no time and with no problem. Much easier than doing the job with my handplanes. It felt like using a power sander.

Some folks object to having end grain show on a finished piece. I think it may be that they never had a plane blade or scraper blade sharp enough to bring out the shining beauty of the wood.

Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it.

For some reason, I find the Veritas No. 80 to be superior to the Stanley original. Does anyone agree?
