I miss my oak firewood

I've been in Bucks since 1979 after graduating from PSU...

Hardwood firewood around here tends to be oak, maple, ash, black walnut, osage orange, etc., much of which comes from tree services that sell to firewood folks.

Where I live, there are nut orchards all around (not to mention grapes). Almonds can produce for 25-30 years, but after that, they call in the "orchard removal service", yes that's a real thing and sell the wood.

When I was active duty, the Chief Petty Officers would cut trees along the power lines, cut it up and sell it as firewood. Then they would get medals for "Community Service".

Some orchard removal videos. As I understand the law a farmer can burn the brush if it will stay a farm. If it will become a subdivision the builder must chip and remove the organic stuff. Many times the farmer knocks down the trees, sells fire wood and burns the small stuff. Then he grows silage for a few years and sells the land to a developer..
