What oil base to use before clear coating

Hey everyone, I’ve been using Watco Natural Danish oil for quite some time. I think it’s time to try something else. It seems that Watco turns the wood very yellow in color. Ash, birch or maple it turns yellow real bad. Is that its natural color it’s bringing out? Thanks everyone….

I'm definitely not a professional here, but i have never found an oil finish that did not discolor the wood in some form. Personally I like Pure Tung oil, but it take's while to cure fully, depending a good deal on the weather, heat, humidity, etc. I'll be watching this thread for more info that may help me also.

Any oil based finish is going to provide some level of ambering. Why? That's the color of the oil. If you want to stay "water white" for light woods like ash and maple, you'll need to use waterborne finish to accomplish that. Some waterbornes are designed to provide the warmth (amber) so be sure to choose one that does not do that.
