Water Poof India Ink

I am curious if mineral oil or a similar finish would penetrate the wood on a cutting board. I would more than likely apply it to end grain.

I've done several CNC carvings in cutting boards for my friend, which get India ink in them. Afterwards, he applies a coat or two of Danish Oil. The DO does not pool in the carved areas where the India ink is, so my guess is it does penetrate through. In any case, they look beautiful afterwards.
