which view mode to use, friends list, & thread poll questions

I am cleaning up my friends list because I am confused about its function. I don't want to leave anyone out so I will leave it blank. I also am unsure about when to use linear view mode in threads that take many turns. I have also wondered what the function of the "Rate this Thread" poll is.

I always use linear mode for view. "Friends" isn't really something all that useful, IMHO, unlike with social media
