I am working on a coffee table with a 36" x 23" cherry top that needs edge detailing. The long dimension is to be faired and will need cutting with a jigsaw followed by planing, rasping, and sanding. It will be beveled with a drawknife/plane. This could be done in the enclosed basement shop but my experience with the glue-up of the cherry panel made me wish for an unobstructed area. The basement has plenty of room for a sawhorse support that is steady with the weight of the panel clamped to both fixtures. The lighting is dim however. I got a tower light of 20,000 lumens and a rolling garage chair that is easily maneuvered. I'm happy with the setup and I'm sure I will use it for finishing the panel and making/installing the base.
