Need 2 more dados milled...Drawer #5....then, rip the blanks for the Drawer backs (5) and then figure out HOW to saw the panels for the drawer bottoms..so I can do some assembly work.

Top is about ready to be planed flat, and the Bread Board ends installed...maybe this coming Friday?

Don't have enough 3' long clamps to do all 5 drawers at once...maybe 2 a day?

Might just be a Busy Week? "Busy, busy...BUSY"

    Stay tuned..

Laundry Detail tonight...was just standing around, waiting on the washer to start the Wash Cycle...decided to just finish up the last 2 dados...and was done before the washer was done filling up..

Will have to go back down to move the load over to the Dryer...may move a few other things around, too? As I need my tablesaw back out where I can use it..

All 5 drawer backs have been ripped to final width and fitted to their drawers....One drawer bottom has been cut to size...despite it's best efforts NOT to be cut..waiting on the Clothes Dryer, now....makes the shop too hot to work too long..Think THAT will be enough fun, for a Monday...

Had to temp. add a pair of screws to Drawer #4...to hold A drawer back in place...
    Stay tuned..

Adapt Tablesaw to rip drawer bottoms..
A Tues. Morning, Tablesaw and fence.JPG
    1 x 1 as a rip fence.

Unplug the saw, flip the switch to "ON"...then get this in place on the saw..
A Tues. Morning, needs ripped down.JPG
Then plug the saw in..and run it through...pull the plug, again..set the "cut-off" aside..repeat until all 3 panels are done..
    A Tues. Morning, Results.JPG
Rotate the saw 90 degrees, so I can crosscut to length...

Seems the dados are 3/8" deep....plan was for 1/4" deep, to match the grooves...back were already cross cut to the plan length...means I have a toe-in at the back of the drawer..
    A Tues. Morning, Toe-in, right side.JPG
Will need a clamp to even out the toe-ins...then add a couple nails under the front groove, through the panel...to lock things in place

Backs are glued and screwed in place..
A Tues. Morning, glue and screws.JPG
But where the bottom panel meets the drawer's back...
A Tues. Morning, panel screwed down.JPG
    Screws alone will work...
    A Tues. Morning, Drawer #2.JPG
4 clamps? Back one to hold the panel in place for the screws....2 to clamp the dovetails with, while the glue sets up...and a diagonal one to even the toe-ins...once the screws and nails are all done..
    A Tues. Morning, 2 drawers done.JPG
I can leave one clamp on, and stash the completed drawer(s) in place...out of my way.....Drawer #4 just needs glue and screws, and a couple nails.

Which leaves 2 drawers to do, tomorrow.....
    Stay tuned...

    5 drawers.....
Drawers, Weds. shoptime, 5 drawers done!.JPG
    Done...

Slots to mount the top to the case...
    Drawers, Weds. shoptime, slots milled.JPG
Done. I drill through each corner brace...then...
Drawers, Weds. shoptime, LEAN the drill.JPG
Rock the drill front to back a few times. Allows the screwed down top to expand and contract....
    Next up?
    Drawers, Weds. shoptime, NEXT !.JPG
Flatten this panel, add the Bread Board ends..and attch the top to the case,,,,always fun...have to stand the case up on the saw or benchtop..to access the slots ....after centering the case on the top. And hope it doesn't move around...screws will have washers, BTW...slides better.

    Stay tuned...

    Top has been leveled..
    Turkey Day, level the top.JPG
    Ends have been trimmed square..
    Turkey Day, saw cut.JPG
Used a router the mill the tongues...
    Turkey Day, 1st Router cut.JPG
Then cleaned up with hand tools...
    Turkey Day, cleaning tools.JPG
Milled the matching (almost) grooves on the tablesaw...and did the dry fits..
    Turkey Day, fitting the ends,.JPG
Needed to joint the edges of the grooves for a closer fit..

    Then?
    Turkey Day, assembled the top.JPG
Let this sit a day, or two...
    Stay tuned...

One item on the list...might involve the bandsaw today...
Drawers, Weds. shoptime, 5 drawers done!.JPG
Look down at the bottom of the Chest of Drawers...at them skinny legs...that vibrate everytime I go to move this thing around in the shop.

So..out in front, a block will be added to each leg...grain direction being an "Issue to be worked out" to where I can glue and screw them in place...maybe Bandsaw a few curves to dress it up a bit? Film at 2300 hrs?

Around in back? just a triangle, with glue and screws? Tablesaw is rather busy at the moment...and it does not do curves....we'll see how things go along, today...
    Stay tuned...

( editing photos at the moment. Even broke a bandsaw blade...good thing I had a spare hanging around)

    The Brackets, today..
    Bracket Friday, sawn parts.JPG
That needed pilot holes drilled at certain angles..
    Bracket Friday, pilot holes drilled.JPG
So that the counter sunk screws will work...without splitting things..

    Test for fit..
    Bracket Friday, test fit, front.JPG
    And the back ones..
Bracket Friday, glue, screws and a clamp.JPG
Glue and screws and a clamp around in back...front ones?
    Bracket Friday, shaved to fit.JPG
No c clamp needed....but the bracket needed shaved just a bit...to hide from view....in fact, a lot of edges were "shaved"
    Bracket Friday, shaving corners, again...JPG
With what else, but the S. Smith & Son Spokeshave...

Got the last bracket in place..
    Bracket Friday, Last brace installed.JPG
Then stood the case back up onto it's four feet...

Drawer #4 needed adjust for better fit...
Bracket Friday, adjust Drawer #4, again.JPG
Used the #78 as a shoulder plane...

Might need a helping hand, or 2...when it becomes time to LIFT the case up onto where ever the Top is sitting...so I can attach the 2 together...
Will see how things go along...

    Stay tuned...

    Again. after one coat..
    A taste of shellac, 5 drawer fronts, 1 coat.JPG
5 drawers, one coat on the fronts, only ( I do not apply finish to the insides of items like this, takes forever to get the smell out.

    Amber Shellac..
    A taste of shellac, can...JPG
Brushed on, straight from the can...

Top and the left side of the case have been hand sanded to 220 grit...and given a 2nd coat...

Stay tuned....looking at a Nov. 30th delivery date...might just make it?

Plan for tomorrow, as it stands right now....haul the 5 drawers upstairs...set them on the bed...unload the old 4 drawer chest of drawers and move it to the curb. Then haul the case upstairs and place it where the old one was, complete with the Boss' wide screen TV on top.

May even take a few pictures, once it has been delivered...IF anyone wants to see them...?
