Use a mounted shoe brush device on top of a sanding grid down flow bench top thingy. turn on dc to the mat then stamp your feet going out. Don't forget to turn off the dc on the way out.

My motto is "Filth without squalor". We have two doormats on the way into the house, an outer one on the porch with AstroTurf type bristles, and a mat on the other side of the door, in the kitchen which is more like what stores have at the entrance. My feet are size 16 so the 3 sided boot scrubber things are a little too small.

There was the day at work when my wife was sick, so I was taking care of the goats. Kathy stops at the clean room entrance and says (loudly) "who left farm residue on the tacky mat??" They catch everything.
