problems - FWW archive on new Windows 11 computer

My new Windows 11 PC won't load the FWW archive disc I bought in 2015 - it worked fine all these years on my previous computer running Windows 10.

Does anybody know of a fix for this?

FWW offered me an upgrade price for 1975 to 2023 on a USB but I'm not so sure about this....

    Thanks.

    Howard,

I have the FWW archive from 1975-2011. It loaded on to the HD. I do have to click on the hot button about 3 times but it does run eventually. I am running Windows 11.

Does your computer read other disks, and this disk is the only one it cannot read?

In what format are the FWW files? Are they HTML, PDF, or perhaps something else?

My guess is that on the CD, they are pdf format. I would find a friend with a computer and convert those archives to pdf format on a thumb drive.

The "end files" are likely PDF, but there's also likely some kind of access database to keep things organized and allow for search, etc.

I've got the first one they did and I never liked the way it ran from the disc so I extracted all the data files to a hard drive. FWW have a full index available on line to allow you peruse what articles you want to find.

My old FWW CD stoped working years ago after a system upgrade. That is the problem with libraries on disc with their own Data Base structure.

Legacy software is often lost when a new OS is launched.

My old Badger Pond archive CD never did run well but that was tech from 22 years ago.

Thanks for your insights here, everybody. Just decided to bite the bullet and pay for the USB. Looking forward to getting these materials!

You may need to assign something to view PDFs. Windows should be backwards compatible if its a pile of pdfs.
