    "Edge of the Meadow"

Hello once again everyone here are some videos of my carving "Edge of the Meadow" I have had several people ask for videos of me carving my work. This is a video showing how I start all of my projects after drawing the layout. I use curved gouges where they fit the curve and freehand cut the rest of the outline with a detail knife. There is no sound on this video so if you have questions about how or why I did something. Post you questions here. Click link below.

That wood looks like it is tough to carve. Looks like a real wrist work out. All my carving tools are full size Ashley Iles or Pfeil. I can see the advantage of the short handled tools for what you are doing. I'd have to put the object in my chuck vise, which is slow when needing to rotate the object often. Maybe a small flex cut set is in my future

Thank you Tom, For the type of carving I do resting beside me on my leather bag so I can change the direction of the piece I'm carving with knives and small hand gouges works best for me.

    "EDGE OF THE MEADOW"

Hello once again everyone this is a photo up date on this project. I have not done very much on this project lately. I have a total of four projects I'm working on in between my chemo & Dr .visits. I will try to get some more videos of the finish carving when I have time.

Hello once again everyone here's a photo update on "Edge of the Meadow" Progress is slow this is very hard wood, I've had to use the Dremel more than I normally would. There's still a great deal of carving and refining yet to do on this piece.

Hello everyone I've worked on this piece for the last two days to finish this piece. I started the layout work 9-11-23. The hollowed Etimoe form was hand drawn and carved by hand and with a Dremel. The final size is 6" x 7" tall and was finished with Tru-Oil.
