Looks perfect to me.
Looks perfect to me.
That's really going to set that off in a unique but, IMHO, beautifully understated way! Perfectly unique without being "in your face". Nice!!!

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
I agree, Jim. The more I looked at the Redheart, that I really like, it became more of 'hey, look at me - I'm a rosette with a guitar in the background!' and I just didn't want that. Not that I won't use Redheart at some point in the future, or pearl or Abalone, but not on this one.

Finished the video for the rosette and cutting the top out. Next will be cutting and fitting braces to the underside of the top.

Made a little progress on the guitar build and got the X-brace glued, ready to sand the 28' radius on the bottom of the braces.

It is fun. Darling brought this video home. Hopefully I can stay awake long enough to watch it. It will be fun to see Woody Mann. Mr. Mann played a Franklin as well as a Monteleone (and many others I suspect) .
I hope Mike Marshall will be playing his Monteleone Mandocello!
Building instruments remains an illusive dream for me. I am running out of time to get one built in the whole year of 2023.

Anything with Mark Knopfler has to be good! Yep, not much time left in the year so jump on the instrument making bandwagon now.![]()

An amazing man and a highly recommended video. It took me a week to get up my courage to watch it. I knew I would be very intimidated. 99% intimidation 1% inspiration. It was fun to learn a little more about Mandolin Brothers in NYC. Visiting there was on my bucket list. It is too bad they closed. A trip to Rudy's Music in SOHO is on the list now.

Mandolin Brothers had a standing order for 3 mandolins a month during the years that I worked at Mid Missouri Mandolin Company. They often upped their order if they happened to sell out before the end of the month. Looking back, I am somewhat surprised as they were a high end store and Mid MO's are "No Frills" simple mandolins. My 1% of inspiration gleaned from The Chisels Are Calling comes from remembering that they also sold several Octave and Electric Mid MO Mandolins.
