    Teak bowl

Another box of teak cutoffs was dropped off by the person that does trim work on yachts. A couple pieces of maple also were in this box.

The box had one piece not quite 2 1/4" thick rough and 7" X 9" that looked perfect to get a small bowl out of. It was a pretty piece of teak.

No idea where this teak is sourced from but it is very oily. You can feel it when you run your fingers across it. Turns really nice. The bowl is a little dark right now because I put a coat of mineral oil on it a short while before the photo. This bowl will be a user for food.

Nice. What a luxury to have access to turnable Teak. I would love to turn a salad bowl set from Teak to use every day.

I also would like to turn a set using teak. This is only the third piece I have received big enough for a salad bowl. Gave the first two bowls to my daughter. Maybe I should start saving the salad bowl sized pieces until I can turn a place setting for at least four.
