    Interior Door Cap, painted

So, I'm upgrading my house from the 70's look, to something else. I'm going to construct the top caps for the door casings. For the 1X6's I'm using, I don't want to do a return on each end. What is the best product to fill in the end grain so it paints like everything else? Thx.

If one uses Collins clamps and a well-adjusted miter saw, doing a return takes 1-2min. Quicker and cheaper than mixing up filler (I'd use Bondo), applying, and sanding. Plus the roundover carries around with a return.

I use B*I*N on end grain.

Dries quick & sands well. A couple coats goes on real quick because it dries so fast.
