    Removing hot melt glue

Making a mock up to get my steps planned and used hot melt glue to attach some clamping blocks. Getting the bulk off is an easy mechanical task but that leaves a shiny glaze of glue that will probably not finish well. Alcohol and acetone don't seem to cut it, at least not quickly. Suggestions?

I have always removed hot glue very cleanly with denatured alcohol. Just dabbing it on with a little brush does it.
If alcohol is not working for you, maybe it has something to do with the glue formulation?

I use a scraper to remove the hot glue residue.

I use a heat gun to separate the parts and a scraper to remove the residue.

Ok, I'll try alcohol again then some finishes. Failing that it'll require some sanding. Prototypes are great learning exercises.

Let the DNA soak a little before attempting to remove it.

We used to use citrus cleaner at work to clean hot melt off the packaging machine. I don't know what effect it would have on any finish applied to your project.
