    Birds in paradise

    ("Birds in Paradise")
Hello once again everyone I have now completed about 90% of the carving and will be starting the pyrography work next. Most of the details are carved but there will be many achieved with pyrography and color. I have many small leaves at the bottom that overlap many times that is what I've been working on. You will see many changes in the photos if you have been following along the whole time.

    PYROGRAPHY

Okay everyone I have now finished the pyrography section on the "Birds In Paradise" project. You can see in the photos you do not have to burn the hell out of your piece to give some nice pyrography embellishments. Now on to the coloring portion of this project.

This piece was made from two pieces of soft Maple glued into a blank that was first turned on the lathe to various thicknesses to allow the carving process to take place. After turning on the lathe the pattern was hand drawn and hand carved and pyrography was applied by myself. The finish size is 7" x 11" and the coloring was achieved with alcohol inks blended to make the colors you see. The final finish is satin lacquer, the inside was colored with black acrylic.

Thank you Eugene and Robert, this piece has been a big hit and I just found out it made the cover on the WOW site. I've also had inquires from collectors about buying the piece.

Feeling very grateful today, last Friday I was contacted by Dave And Karen Long about the purchases of my latest piece "BIRDS IN PARADISE"
The Longs have been collecting wood art for over 40 years. Dave said We're not adding many pieces to our collection these days, except for outstanding work like
    "BIRDS IN PARADISE."
Their collection currently comprises 350 pieces by 161 artists from nine countries.
The piece has now arrived safely to their home and is now placed with all of the other outstanding works of art in there home gallery.
