Thread: When template routing does it matter where the bearing is?

    I now do almost all template work on my shaper. The power and smoothness is worth the time to put together a jig to hold work solidly. I would build a router table if doing much template work in a shop without a shaper. It just works better when moving the workpiece instead of the tool in my mind.

    I use whatever does the work. Shapers cant do tight inside radius work.

    my post not showing when im logged on same as past many times. ill ad with the router I can climb stuff that would not be safe on a shaper. the router you hold the tool and have control.
