My sawmill only has a 7" capacity above the blade. I don't need or want to saw 8" beams, though I can by cutting around the edges of a bigger cant, but I would like to be able to rip a wide board down the middle. But with anything wider than 14" that's not possible. Thinking of my options, I decided to build a fixture that bolts to the sawhead with a bracket to hold my small chainsaw 11" below the blade. That will allow me to rip anything up to 22" wide, the widest my mill can cut.

It's bolted to the down tube that holds the backside blade guides. Goes on and off with two bolts.

The chainsaw bar is bolted to a piece of 1/4" bar stock, much like on an Alaskan Mill.

The 1" tube on the chainsaw bracket slides into the 1-1/2" x 0.020 wall tube on the saw head fixture, and is held with a pin. This allows me to rip off a live edge on a board using the bandsaw, then add the chainsaw to rip the board down the middle.
