That's a good combination. I used a vise like that for the longest time of any, until I found one with jaws twice as long. Top choice for saw set too.

You'll screw up some to start with. It's a given. Best to practice with one that it doesn't matter much on first. You can always get one back even if it is screwed up, but may as well learn on one you aren't worried about.
