Have had a couple of different ones over the years and find them mostly useless but can’t bring myself to get rid of it. I currently have the JET 1000.

Are they useless because the filters never need to be changed?

    - After I ask a stranger if I can pet their dog and they say yes, I like to respond, "I'll keep that in mind" and walk off

    I have the Powertec AF400.

    It's inexpensive.

Judging by the dust it catches in the filters, it's definitely doing something.

I run mine for an hour after I leave the shop. I notice less settled fine dust in the corners than pre-Powertec.
