I've seen plenty with female threads to recieve a male threaded tip but this is new to me.
I wouldn't think there is enough torque in a standard handle to install threaded inserts. It could be for threading or cleaning threads on some other soft material
Shotgun cleaning rod - 1 of 3 pieces.
The handle is very nice. It looks like Brazilian Rosewood. My gun cleaning rods have a T handle that spins to follow the rifling. A handle like that would make sense for shotgun specific cleaning rod.
