Totalboat Gleam 2.0 on Black Walnut

I'm building a dash panel for a friend's boat in blk walnut. He wants a piano smooth finish and his boat is in full sun exposure in marine enviro.

TB tech was fantastic on phone, but unsure if creating a slurry with TB wood sealer for grain fill would hold up. TB tech was against using any blo mixture, shellac, or grain filler, which is what I normally do with furniture projects.

I tested Gleam alone thinned and then 6 apps at full strength....with sanding it looks just ok at best.

This is my first foray into a marine build, and I should have gone with epoxy, but I'm here now unfortunately.

Logically, if I'm only using TB product (Sealer and Gleam) and wet sanding in their sealer, I'm simply adding sawdust to the mix b4 topcoating with Gleam. Shouldn't I be good?

Appreciate any thoughts or experiences you may have.
    Thanks,
    Fred

I'm sure it will be good. Just not sure how many coats it will take.
