Hi All,

I have access to a woodworking studio at a local community center and I want to build a tool chest similar to this one: https://www.woodworkersjournal.com/tool-chest/. I was also thinking of doing something similar to the one in a youtube I saw (Samurai Carpenter chisel drawer http://samuraicarpenter.com/samurai-chisel-chest/).

The woodworkers journal calls for cutting the front facing wood (22 inches long and 16" wide into 3 (top, middle, bottom) with the middle piece effectively being where 3 drawers will go. They then rip two edges (1 1/2" each) and glue the top, bottom and now 1 1/2" strips together to form the carcass. They then cut 1/2" box joints on this 1 1/2" wood (on a router table) but I'm worried that the table saw is either going to blow out the wood or it won't be safe. Any thoughts or alternatives that people have built?

I'm not quite sure I'm explaining it correctly so I may have to add pictures in the morning but wanted to see if there were any overnight responses.

Thanks!

Luis
