    Did not realize that, John. I knew they were toxic for certain animals but didn't realize they would affect other plants. We don't have any Walnut trees here so no worries on that end but we do like having these up high enough we can work with them without any bending or kneeling. And yes, the soil we are using is top-notch, so that has to help.

    David, there are a wide variety of plant types that just cannot grow under or near walnut trees. It's, I guess, a "non compete" chemical it puts into the soil. We had lots of experience with this at our previous property for sure.

    Just a little update with some veggies in the buckets; we've gotten zucchini and cucumbers so far. Carrots, garlic, and onions will be ready soon. Basil, peppermint, and tomatoes are looking good, too. Potatoes in the bin are doing well but still have another month or so before they're ready.
