    In praise of a plane....

LOVE most of my hand planes and scrapers BUT this Lee Valley Low Angle Smoother just makes me smile every time I use it!!

top to a Japanese katatsu coffee table I'm putting together for my daughter-in-law (Ambrosia Maple and Chechen) ...also put my chisels to work on the slots for the forked tusk tenons

...Sunday was dry assembly day, now for the finishing ....uuuggh!!

Nice looking table Jim. Looking forward to seeing how it looks when finished.

Nice job. I used to have the LV LA Jack version. The steep angle blade grinds made for incredible smoothing when light cuts were dialed in. It made a good shooting plane too. It was replaced with a LN 62 when I acquired a dedicated shooting plane. There's just something about a bevel up plane and a steep grind that flat out works.
Sharp solves all manner of problems.
