    I've considered that but I can see myself spending way too much time on this. I'm totally open to ideas though.

    For the Luddites who do not post-process with Lightroom or Photoshop, here is another way.

    If your pictures appear in the desired orientation on your device (my device is an iPhone), but not the same way after uploading, you can use Preview on to fix the image before uploading on SMC. The Preview app (on an iPhone) has a simple edit function that includes a rotation function. My process is to

    Edit
    Rotate 90 degrees
    Rotate 90 degrees again
    Save (this step is essential)
    Edit
    Rotate 90 degress
    Rotate 90 degrees again
    Save.

    Now I can use the upload photo button on SMC and the photos appear in the same orientation as on my device. The jargon about erasing meta data is meaningless to me.

    I found this method by trial and error. The two edits with a save in between are necessary for it to work. If you rotate 4 90’s and save, it doesn’t actually fix the problem.

    Interesting process. I'm on android but I think the process is similar.
