A door for the barn, first crack at multicolored rubio.

Pretty enjoyable project. A client came to me asking for a simple barn door and it turned into this:

I learned a few things about rubio on this project that I hadn't experienced before. Typically I only use the "pure" color for a lot of reasons but, always being open to trying something new I gave it a crack. In the end I'm quite pleased with it and the client asked for 3 additional unique projects as soon as this was completed.

It's all pacific maple with chocolate and mahogany as the rubio colors.

Nice, Brian! Were the individual boards finished prior to assembly?

Absolutely. I considered trying to finish after assembly but felt as though that was asking for trouble with all the masking that I was going to have to do. I precut everything, dry assembled, broke down, finished, re-assembled, did a final polishing once it was all ready to go.

Based on the title I expected to see sheep! Instead I saw California.
Lovely door but it looks so wrong in that location, especially from the corridor side. The building and air flow were not designed to have a door there, the smoke detector won’t be happy! Their walls do not look that straight either.

Perhaps Californians are sheep in your eyes? Haha. It's a new development in Oregon. I'll admit, the stud spacing was incredibly wacky when I put the rail in.
