    Has anyone painted Melamine?

I have a few Melamine cabinets I'd like to paint gray.
    Has anyone successfully painted Melamine?

I know B*I*N is iffy. One in particular might get a lot of use. It's a bin that will hold the dogs' food.

A friend had success using automotive paint on Formica.

XIM Primer Is gripper than BIN. It is rather unpleasant to use. It is stinky and flashes off very fast. I buy it at Sherwin Willams.

I see XIM has been acquired by Rust Oleum and there are now several versions. Original 400 is the only one I have used.

Does melamine need to be scuff sanded before priming?

Everything I've read about it says to not only sand, but, wipe it down with liquid sandpaper also.
