I posted earlier about refinishing a table. I ended up ordering Target EMTECH EM8000cv. The table is Jatoba and has only had one application of a clear Target water based finish since I built it about 25 yrs ago.
I started by lightly scuff sanding with P180. Everything looked pretty good so I sprayed my first coat . There were several very blotchy areas and I assumed I had sanded all the way through the previous finish in those spots. I went over the entire top with P100 and followed up with P180. It looked like all the old finish was gone and fresh wood was exposed. When I wiped it down with water everything looked pretty good. Here's what I've got after the next try with EM8000.
I'm pretty frustrated and don't know what to do next. The Jatoba had darkened over time but I was pretty sure I had sanded deep enough to expose fresh wood.
The overhead lights are fairly cool but I color corrected the photo to approximate what the eye sees.
Any suggestions are most appreciated.
