    K chisels

These are some butt chisels modified to make them more conducive to Kumiko work. All the edges are broken generously so as to be kind to your hands and the handles are sized so you can push with the butt of your palm. 1 3/8" wide high carbon steel blades. Handles are African Blackwood and infused maple burl.

You're right, even though they are used mostly for paring I wouldn't hesitate to use them on a hinge mortise.

    Really lovely.

dumb question. Does that type of handle profile have a name i.e. like "london pattern" or whatnot.

Some of my shop made handles are similar:

    I call them "comfortable."

There is a lot to be said for reaching for a beautiful chisel on your bench, uplifting and inspirational! I gave all my ugly ones away.

Jim, you’re a pretty darn good woodturner!!! Very nice curves and detail in that handle.

I've turned quite a few of these. I've built some pretty good muscle memory. The hardest part of designing a chisel handle is figuring out how to finish off the end.

I believe that as well William. If woodworking is your hobby or profession nice tools make it more enjoyable.
