    Red pointer

    Hi,
We're using a Trotec Speedy100 and the red pointer dot has become quite dim over time but the laser itself doesn't seem to be any weaker. Is there anything I can do to rectify it?
I'm not very familiar with the inner workings of the machine. I cleaned the mirrors and the lens and ran out of ideas.

    Thanks

I haven"t experienced that issue but on some materials the red dot is difficult to see. My fallback is to call tech support as I have found them to be very helpful.

The red dots are also lasers and they will fail over time. I've replaced the ones on my Chinese laser twice in the past 6 years, and added some for my fibers for alignment. I'm not familiar with Trotec and I'd give them a shout, hopefully you can replace easily.

Have you cleaned the mirror on the right side of the machine.
You'll have to take the outside cover off to see where it is. also check the nozzle opening, it can get clogged with dust from cutting and engraving.

Just call Trotec and get a replacement. I bet it’s generic on that part, I’d try to find the part number and order. The red dot is not in the actual laser it’s a separate component that is merged in and aligned with the real laser source.
