    Rosewood alternative, visually similar

I’m getting ready to make a second guitar stand. My mahogany-backed guitars love hanging from the first one I made in mahogany. Now their rosewood siblings want a stand of their own. I need a minimum finished thickness of 3/4”, so 4/4 would be best to start with. The piece calls for 6” width by 6’, but I could have a couple of 4’ lengths.

Trouble is, you can’t find 4/4 rosewood in that width. What would be some close visual alternatives for rosewood that are readily available? I’ve heard some claims about bubinga: agree? What about others?

The stand will get a simple tung oil finish.

Derek, please don’t send me to an Aussie exotic!
