I have a draw knife that is marked Witherby and has the number 8 stamped on the end opposite the Whitherby marking. The handles are adjustable. It seems to be made of good steel. Does anyone know anything about this maker?

I assume it is TH Witherby? I had a large 3"+ slick and some other framing chisels. If i remember correctly, TH Witherby dates back to 1860-1880 and is largely considered to be one of the better north american tool makers of the era. If you google, there is a fair amount of information out there on the maker.
Hi Joe, send me a PM with an eddress to send you a web archive page on Witherby.

I consider Witherby to be one of the top makers and I have fiddled with a LOT of drawknives.
