Thread: Will paint protect wood from moisture?

If you’re going to paint it white then consider using a white vinyl trim board from most decent size hardware stores. Waterproof and it won’t needed painting.

I think I am being punished for being critical of paints ability to waterproof. My day job this week is removing vinyl siding, black fiber board and hundreds of roofing nails from a garage built in the 1950s. I get to restore the original masonite siding. Scraping, puttying, sanding, some epoxy repairs, two coats of alkyd primer and two coats of acrylic deck and siding solid color stain.
    Best Regards, Maurice
