    We really ought to think about adopting one of those other plug standards. Some of them look a lot safer than what we use.

    Just like we adopted the metric system?

    It would be difficult to change for many folks. What about manufacturers? Of course we could go for a long time with an adapter. Look how many people still plug adapters into two prong outlets for a three pronged appliance. One more adapter on top of that would just make your refrigerator stand out another inch or two.
