    Creeker's Past Week's Accomplishments

    15 Aug 2022

    Greetings,
My Army son is now home to stay. He completed his assigned tour and he's home and ready to move on to the next phase of his life. We are thankful to have him home. No woodworking in the shop this week, but I'm working on improving my skills at the day job and going to learn so I can do my job at the new job as well as I did at my previous job. I just never thought that changing jobs at my age would be so much of an up-hill-climb!!!

That's it for me, so what did YOU do this past week?

Best of weeks to you all!
    Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,
    Dennis -

Glad your son is home and I hope the transition to "what comes next" will go well for him! As for the learning around the new job, it's to be expected and can actually make it more rewarding.

This past week, I finished up the build work for the "scrap vanity" project as detailed in my thread in Woodworking Projects. All that remains is the finishing. And, of course, ripping apart a good chunk of the guest bath to make it presentable for the new vanity. This week I have some shop cleanup to do as well as to tear down the PCS that's served as my table saw in the temporary shop. It's leaving next weekend for its new home back in New Jersey. The SC4C slider I ordered with an anticipated delivery in early to mid October is, um...arriving in the port of Savannah GA...tomorrow. Yea, two months early. So I need room for the big crate since it can't go in the new shop building since it doesn't exist yet. (one month away... ) I'm going to try to get to a small back patio improvement this week, too, given the humidity left us for a few days, but that depends upon my right hip and some sciatica that's wreaking havoc at the moment.

Glad to hear he's home safe! My parents were happy to have me back from the military when the time came as well.

I'm almost done with my assembly table/cabinet peninsula in the shop. Just putting the final drawer fronts on! Also wrapping up the build of a few tilt/trash can cabinets, spice rack, and fridge panel (all work). But tomorrow... the ocean is calling!

Our family room carpet was installed on Friday so that project is now off the list! We've had normal September weather in August....mid 70's, low humidity, nice breeze...so I've been catching up on a lot of little outdoor jobs; many more to go. I did finish up plans for a console bookcase for the home office and started selecting stock from the pile, but that was it for shop time. Mary will be starting back teaching soon so we took another short vacation trip, this time to Presque Isle near Erie PA. It's a beautiful place! Hung out at a couple of the beaches (there are 11) , played putt putt, rode bikes, visited the zoo, etc. Very enjoyable and relaxing. We had planned to go to the Ohio islands (Kelly's island, etc) but it was regatta season up there and we wanted to avoid the crowds.
