    An old box, or 17

I have mentally committed to building all my nieces a hope chest (a couple already posted at SMC), so such 'boxes' sometimes catch my attention. On a recent visit to Chateau de Chillon (aka Castle Chillon :: "Shee-own") outside Montreux Switzerland, I happened on some boxes. They are reputed to span from 11th century to 19th century; all were found as part of castle furnishings (others not pictured here, are reproductions); none were labeled; I had limited time to do my 'photo study', so this is what you get. Sizes range from humidor-ish to large buffet-ish (sorry, no tape for scale).

Oh, and if opportunity presents, Switzerland is a great visit and home to some of the world's most dramatic scenery.

    Enjoy. Pick a favorite.

Great pictures! And great inspiration. Thanks for sharing. (And I agree, Switzerland is amazing. I really want to go back there and spend more time.)
