    Having that shorter track has been very, very helpful in certain situations. I'd consider getting an even shorter one, although I may just cut one from the "original, original" narrower Festool rail I have for that kind of thing since it just sits around and isn't really worth anything for resale. (it will not mate with current generation tracks). The HK series of Festool saws with the short track that sticks to the saw are a really nice solution for carpentry in that respect. I'm not about to spring for one of those, but the value of a short-short track is still there for me sometimes.

    I recently viewed a few videos on festool and using two alignment bars. Do you folks think that two alignment bars do any better than one alignment bar to get things straight? I think I can get two alignment bars on myMakita track guides.

    If I were going to joint two rails, more than one alignment bar would be a big plus, IMHO. The longer the alignment bars, the better, too.
